Things are soooo good :) Except that no one write us...
Anyway...
This has been a change! I really like this area. It's AMAZING and totally on fire. Well, at least the members are. So we had such a neat experience on Saturday evening. We went to talk to the YW president to get to know her and find out how we can serve the YW and her family, and then her parents walked in and gave us their food and we started talking and Hermana Guzman, the YW president's mom, started asking about one of our investigators, Rosio Ayala. Well, perfectly, we had a lesson with Rosio and her family in about 30 minutes and so we invited her to come. She then invited her husband. And we already had another member who had asked to come visit Rosio's husband, Rojelio. Anyway, we took off to the lesson and ended up with three members, two missionaries, and two investigators. It was crazy. BUT SO COOL!
And then this is where my companion comes in. Hermana Huey is amazing. She just sat there and sort o
This area is super prepared. The other day we were just walking around lost looking for an apartment (that's basically every 5 minutes of our lives here...whitewash struggles..) and we saw this woman outside cutting her nails so we started talking to her and she is so prepared! She's so sweet and yeahhh. We called her on Saturday to see if she had read in the Book of Mormon and she said she forgot when we asked her to read, but when we reminded her, she started reading to us outloud over the phone for like 5.7 minutes and it was SO TENDER! The spirit filled our car (we were driving) and it was just so neat. Anyway, Hermana Huey and I are both really excited to work hard and baptize! I'm grateful for the prepared people the Lord has already put into our path.
Overall, it has been super awesome and I have loved this last week! I'm really excited to hasten the work. One of the things that I have been trying to improve on is to work with leaders and be accountable to the Lord. I really want to sharpen my ability to receive, rely on, and respond to personal revelation--for myself, for my area, and for my investigators. I think that I have a lot of room to improve, and the desire is there, so I know that the Lord will help me in my efforts. :)
I found something really cool in the scriptures this week. It's in 1 Nephi 15. Nephi has just finished seeing his version of Lehi's vision and the destruction of his people as a result of the contention between the Lamanites and Nephites, when he walks to his father's tent and sees his brothers fighting. He talks about how he is so overwhelmed with the burned of his afflictions that he can hardly function. Can you even imagine? You see the destruction of your people and then walk outside and see literally the beginning of the end. Nephi is then strengthened by the Lord and begins to ask his brothers if they have asked God to know the truth. He teaches them the principles of personal revelation, faith, and a loving Heavenly Father. Then he basically teaches them the restoration. It's really cool, check it out if you get a chance. I think my favorite part of the whole chapter was part of verse 25 that says, "I did exhort them with ALL the energies of soul, and with ALL the faculty which I possessed that they would give heed to the word of God." Nephi is hastening the work. He is using is WHOLE soul and ALL he possesses to bear testimony, teach, and commit. It really just made me think about how much of myself I am putting into this. Nephi got it. He know that if he didn't give it his all, destruction would come upon his people. I think he knew that even if he did give it his all, destruction would still come. But he gave it everything anyway. He loved the Lord and he loved his brothers. I hope that all made sense. I learned a lot from it!
The work is great, we're figuring it out with faith, and I just love it! :)
Have a good week!
