This week we've been working a lot on building up the members. I love how Preach My Gospel teaches about finding through the members. As we build their faith in us as servants of God and in the doctrines of the missionary lessons, they will have more love and excitement about missionary work. So this week we came up with a plan. We've visited most of the members in our area and invited them to study and receive the missionary lessons with us. Our plan is to teach all the members the basic 5 lessons from Preach My Gospel and track their progress on a teaching record. And then at the end of the transfer, we'll give them the teaching record with a nice note in the background information section! But shhhh! That's a secret! I'm excited about it! The members are also excited and we'll be leaving them with specific missionary challenges as commitments. There's three main things we hope to get out of doing this. 1) Increase the members faith and knowledge of the basic doctrines of the church. 2) Help them to have meaningful missionary experiences and share what they are learning. 3) Become better teachers :) All of the members have willingly set return appointments with us this week and we're excited to see how it goes!Hermana Huey is so great! I've really felt an increase of love for her this week. My favorite quote says that "our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure" and that "when we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same." I know that is true and that it's such an important part of companionships. When we are both letting our light shine, being who we are, and loving and encouraging that, things work so much more smoothly. We have both grown a lot and I'm grateful for my companionship!
My testimony is about the promptings of the spirit. I love the spirit. It is our greatest tool as missionaries. We need to do everything we can to have it. When we follow the little promptings it gives us, the small, good intentions, the Lord will trust us to do even greater things. More often than not, we don't know why we feel impressed to do things, but when we do them anyway, the Lord magnifies our efforts. He is pleased when we are earnestly giving it our all. Nephi repeatedly exhorts, loves, and teaches his brothers with all the energies of his souls, and those experiences are pleasing, powerful, and important, but I'm sure that Nephi also had many small, tender moments where he simple cleaned his brothers' weapons and packed up their tents for them. It's not always great and glorious, but it can be miraculous in it's simplicity!
Have a good week!
Love,
Hermana Clark
