This has just been a wonderful week!
Wow. We had an adventure this week because our car had some problems, so it was in the shop for about four days. It was a bit crazy, but we had a lot of awesome opportunities to have member present lessons (and rides) and to reallllyy talk with everyone as we walked the streets and contacted everyone we could find!
This branch is so awesome because they all want to be involved in missionary work. We spoke in church on Sunday, and so many members came up to us afterwards to invite us to invite them out on lessons. Haha, hopefully that made sense! The missionary spirit is so strong right now and I just LOVE it!
Hermana Johnson is a riot! I love working with her! She puts her all into the work and truly wants to succeed. Not
Also, she's hilarious. So we basically just have so much fun. All the time. The end.
Okay. Spiritual time. As I mentioned, this Sunday we were speaking in church, so obviously we were sitting on the stand. It was a neat opportunity to see the "behind the scenes" of the Sacrament preparations, prayers, etc. As I watched these worthy priesthood holders break and bless the bread and water, I was overwhelmed with the Spirit. Even more so as I looked out at the congregation and witnessed so many saints of God renewing their covenants. It was so special. It sort of inspired me and..well..this is what happened:
As he cleanses his hands
from the stickiness of children's fingers
and the worn pages of 30 year old scriptures,
does he remember the words of Pilate
as he washed his hands
and consented to the death
of one just man?
As he stands to take his place
at the side of his brethren,
does he remember when Peter
failed to stand and take his place
at the side of the Christ
the Son of the Living God?
As he humbly bows his head
and grasps the first piece
of unbroken bread,
does he remember the soldiers
who grasped hammer and nails
to break the flesh of our Savior?
As he falls to his knees
does he remember the Lord
who fell and plead
"remove this cup from me,
nevertheless, not my will,
but thine be done?"
As he ponders for a sacred moment
does he consider
the infinite power
of this perfect atonement
and his own personal commitment
and consecration to the will of the Father?
As he speaks the precious words
of that familiar redemptive prayer
does he remember Jesus Christ
and His prayer
"forgive them,
for they know not what they do?"
As he looks into the faces
of those who partake
does he see as their downtrodden
and heavy hearts
are filled with joy and peace?
Can he imagine the faces of the angels
who proudly declared
He is not here
for He is risen?
As we remember our Savior
do we truly understand
that Because He Lives
we are not alone
failures can be forgiven
hearts may rejoice
and lives may begin again?
So as we anxiously await
our change to partake of His love
may we always remember
the sacrifice He made
and take courage and faith
that because he lives
we, too, will live again someday.
Sorry, that was a bit long!
I love this work so much! It brings so much joy and it's just the best! Go, fight, win, break!
