It's been a good week! I was very sad to leave Arroyo Grande and all the people there. But, I am very very excited to be here in Santa Paula. A little about the area. It's a very dangerous area, there are lots of gangs
WE'RE GOING TO THE TEMPLE THIS WEEK! It's Hermana Miller's birthday in October, and we get to go to the temple in the month of our birthdays, so we're going on...OCTOBER FIRST! Why postpone an offer like that? I literally almost started crying when I found out her birthday was this month. SO EXCITED! Two more days! Two more days! Just imagine my sing-songy voice saying that :) YAY!!

Oh, hi there! Shaila got baptized! Yay!! It was an awesome, awesome day. I'm so proud of her! :) :) :) She had some doubts and concerns earlier in the day and sent us a text saying that she wasn't sure she could live up to the standards of the church. So we zoomed right over to her house and as soon as she saw us she started laughing and said, "I knew you'd come!" It was neat because she wasn't sure, but said, "I've still been getting ready, I'm wearing my waterproof mascara!" It was cute :) We told her to grab her Book of Mormon and open up. She opened to the middle of Alma 43, war chapters. It was perfect. It tells the story of the Nephites praying for strength and the Lamanites fleeing within the very hour. We promised her that if she prayed, she would feel peace and excitement within the hour. It was awesome! In other news, I'm being TRANSFERRED! I'm leaving dear Hermana Eastman and going down to Santa Paula. I will be in a tri-pan (three companions) with Hermanas Shepherd and Miller. From what I've heard, Santa Paula is amazing! So I'm really excited! Although I'm very, very sad to be leaving everyone in Arroyo Grande. It's been a while since I've sent some good pics, so enjoy these images of my life! Love ya'll! Hermana Clark It was a lovely week in Arroyo Grande. So many good things happening up here!
The most exciting thing, in my opinion, was Shaila's baptismal interview. SHE PASSED! Yay! We went over to her house on Friday and talked to her more about the interview, and she just seemed happy. She had a new light and lightness and excitement for her baptism. It was awesome! Wednesday was exchanges. I went with Hermana Taylor and it was so good! I had a great time working with her again. It was nice to see how much we have both grown, even though it's only been a few weeks since we were companions. We started the morning by visiting the Pantry Kitchen, another food bank run by Five Cities Christian Women. The director was so excited to have us there to help and we will be returning on Wednesday mornings consistently. I'm so excited! After lunch and language study, we visited Johana. Her 6 year old son was so excited to see us and can't wait to come to church because it is 3 hours long! What 6 year old kid is excited I didn't realize how hard it is to remember everything that happens in a week. And then the problem is that once you start remembering everything, you can't decide what's the best parts to share. Oh, the struggle....
One of my favorite parts of this week was our Book of Mormon class with Shaila. As of like two weeks ago, we started doing a weekly Book of Mormon class where we read a chapter and discuss parts of it with Shaila and whoever else comes. We had an awesome class this week. Shaila, a member, and two of the Elders from the area came and we read the end of 1 Nephi 17. After that, things kinda went all over the place, which often means it was guided by the Spirit. For me, the highlight was hearing the Elders and member tell and testify to Shaila the same things that we have been trying to tell her since we met her, about the imperfection of people yet God's This week was awesome! We had a great zone conference with some awesome announcements about service. We are starting to work with a new program called JustServe. It's a community website, set up by the church, that organizations and service projects can sign up for and then we get to volunteer to help with. I'M SO STOKED! I'm super excited to be able to work with the community more and establish those relationships. I love, love, love service. I just think that doing more service will be the best.
We have actually had a couple opportunities to do service since zone conference already. On Thursday and Saturday we helped a less active member in our ward prepare to close her fabric store. We helped her take |
